Got two of these as a gift for my pup and he loves it! Yes, the ball does make a loud noise, but you're not going to go deaf. After you're done charging it remember that when you screw it closed there's an extra little click that way it's waterproof. As for it being just a cat toy, you must really love cats a lot. This is a toy for dogs cats probably even ferrets I don't know. It's spontaneous rolling and ability to get it so free from certain areas make it a challenging and fun toy for your dog and it's really well built, very sturdy!!
